A step by step guide to supercharge your internet browsing speed!

Okay, so you might be just wondering - how do I get my lame ass internet speed to be a bit more faster - You've landed up on the right place sir!

So, lets start - Should we?

This method works for DSL or Cable connections only.

Step 1 - Gathering Softwares.

You'll need all of the following softwares in order to make this method work. Skip the ones you already have.

1) FireFox . If you have it, cool. If not, .

2) FireFox on its own does not render good browsing speed - Its atleast better than IE though! Anyways, what you need here is FireTune - Click Here to get it. Keep it aside for a while, we'll come back to it soon.

3) Third, you'll need SpeedGuide.net's SG TCP Optimizer. Click Here to get it.

4) Now, you need Lvllord's Patch to increase the TCP connections (We'll get into this later). Click Here to get it.

Step 2 - Action Time.

Okay, so I got all these softwares. What now? Read on..

1) Modifying your LAN Properties.

a) Go to Start>Network Connections.

b) Right Click>Properties on your main internet connection.

c) Make the following changes: [Unselect everything except "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)"]

Network Properties

2) Running Lvllords Patch.

In WinXP SP 1, TCP connections were set to unlimited. However, Microsoft limited these connections to 10 in SP2. You can open more TCP connections and increase your speed using this patch.

a) Extract the patch and run it:

lvllord patch1

b) Press "C" to change the limit and set it to 100.

lvllord patch 2

c) Press "Y". After you do that, you'll be promted with a Windows XP message saying that your original files are being replaced and blah blah. Click "Ignore" or "Cancel" to that window, and press "Yes" after it asks for a confirmation.

d) You'll get a message that your patch was successfully executed. Exit and reboot your computer. Don't forget to Bookmark this page (Hit CTRL+D) so you can return once you've rebooted.

3) SG TCP Optimizer - using it!

Back already? Cool! So, this is where you use SpeedGuide's TCP Optimizer. How? Its your lucky day, my friend.

a) This program modfies your system registry in order to boost your internet speed. Here's what you have to do:

SG TCP Optimizer

b) Choose your connection speed - mine is 256 kbps. Go down and select "Optimal Settings". Click on Apply changes after that. You'll be promoted with a box somewhat like this after that:

SG TCP Optimizer 2

c) Click OK, and click "Yes" to reboot your computer. (Bookmark this page first if you've already not done that).

4) FireTune - Final Step, Baby!

I'm assuming that you're already using FireFox.

a) Install it. After installation, Click on "Create backup configuration" first.

FireTune

b) Next, choose the settings according to your needs and computer configuration. Be sure to check out the other two tabs viz. "Other Optimizations" & "Other useful settings" too.
